Salsa Digital: Top Tier Drupal partner
The Drupal has just accredited Salsa Digital as a Top Tier Drupal , the highest tier in the Drupal Certified Partner . The ranking places Salsa fourth in the world and first in Australia for contribution to the open source Drupal project.
Salsa’s global and Australian ranking
Salsa Digital reached Top Tier status with 16,761 contribution credits. On Drupal.org’s list of Drupal Certified Partners, that ranks Salsa:
- Fourth in the world
- First in Australia
Salsa is one of only two Australian agencies in the world’s top 10, and the top-ranked Drupal agency in Australia.
About Drupal Certified Partners
The Drupal Certified (DCP) program recognises agencies that give back to Drupal, not just build with it. The Drupal Association created the program to reward organisations for code contributions, financial support and community leadership that keep Drupal secure, accessible and ready to scale for enterprise use.
To qualify, an agency needs enough weighted contribution credits each year, plus a Drupal case study submitted to Drupal.org. Certification runs across six tiers, from Bronze up to Top Tier.
How the tiers work
Tier | Minimum annual credits |
Top Tier | 12,000 |
Diamond | 5,000 |
Platinum | 2,500 |
Gold | 1,000 |
Silver | 500 |
Bronze | 150 |
What our recent work achieved
A significant part of Salsa Digital’s recent contribution has been the work of Kristen Pol, who serves as Program Manager for the Drupal AI and leads the AI Context/Context Control workstream. Salsa was one of five founding partners of the Drupal AI Initiative, which has since grown to more than 30 partner organisations and 50 active contributors working to establish Drupal as a leading open source platform for AI-powered digital experiences.
Kristen has played an important role in turning that ambition into an organised, deliverable program. She helps coordinate contributors and delivery across the initiative while also leading Salsa’s work on the Context Control Center (CCC). Context management is one of the eight priorities in Drupal’s 2026 AI roadmap and provides a central way for organisations to define the information AI needs to work effectively, including brand voice, style guides, audience profiles and governance rules.
This work matters because useful enterprise AI requires much more than connecting a large language model to a website. AI needs trusted, structured and governed organisational context to produce reliable results. The Context Control Center is designed to make that context available consistently across Drupal’s AI capabilities, helping organisations retain control over what information AI uses and how it behaves. Salsa is providing the project leadership, roadmap, architecture and development behind this work.
For organisations adopting AI, particularly government and enterprise organisations where trust, governance and accountability are critical, this is an important foundation. It moves Drupal beyond simply adding AI features towards becoming a platform where organisations can govern how AI understands and acts on their knowledge — while keeping humans, organisational standards and established editorial processes at the centre.
Why contribution to Drupal matters
Drupal is built and maintained by a global community of developers and agencies, not a single vendor. The Drupal Certified Partner program exists because that model only works if agencies put code, funding and community support back into the project, rather than only drawing on it.
Salsa’s ranking is a marker of that ongoing contribution, verified annually by the Drupal Association rather than self-reported. It’s good, independent evidence for government and enterprise clients evaluating who to trust with a Drupal build.
