Rules as Code training — Drupal integration

Learn how to connect Drupal webforms to OpenFisca using the Webform OpenFisca Drupal module, from webform configuration to results pages and blocks.

For advanced content editors and Drupal developers | 3 hours | $450 + GST per person

You’ve got your rules mapped and your OpenFisca engine built. Now you need a frontend that lets real people interact with it. That’s where Drupal comes in.

This course covers the Webform OpenFisca Drupal module — a module built by Salsa Digital to connect Drupal webforms directly to the OpenFisca API. You’ll learn how to configure a webform, set up redirection rules and create results blocks that show users personalised, calculated outcomes based on their responses.

What you’ll learn

  • How Drupal and OpenFisca work together via the Webform OpenFisca Drupal module
  • How to analyse the OpenFisca API and identify the variables and entities you need
  • How to build and configure a webform, including mapping fields to OpenFisca variables
  • How to create results pages and configure redirection/branching rules using the RaC content type
  • How to create results blocks and define the logic that controls when they’re displayed, based on the results from the OpenFisca API
  • How to use OpenFisca parameter tokens to show calculated values on results pages
  • How to test your webform end-to-end using predefined test cases

Who it’s for

This course is designed for advanced Drupal content editors and Drupal developers working on Rules as Code projects. You’ll need to be comfortable working in Drupal’s admin interface. Prior exposure to APIs and JSON structures will help you get more out of this course.

How it works

The course runs for three hours and uses two practical, real-world scenarios throughout:

  1. Employing young people in the ACT
  2. A simplified disability allowance

You’ll work through the full process — from webform creation to results pages and block configuration — with guided exercises along the way.

What you’ll walk away with

The skills to configure a fully working Rules as Code frontend in Drupal — including webforms, results pages and conditional content blocks.
