Improving online user engagement

The 2013 Victorian Government ICT Strategy identified a need to improve the process around proof of identity and encourage online access for citizens accessing government services through web and mobile media.

The Citizen Identity Management policy responds to this by outlining a simpler, federated identity management framework using a simplified sign-on (SSO). Agencies will incorporate the new federated identity service as an option for citizens registering for their online services.

Compliance

The policy outlines how the federated identity service must comply with:

How it will work

  • Agencies requiring user identification will consider offering the federated identity service and its associated SSO as a first preference

  • Agencies will comply with IDAM STD 01 Identity and Access Management to determine the strength of registration and authentication applicable to their service offering
