Drupal AI at GovCMS Mega Meetup

Late last year, I had the opportunity to create a series of videos for a session on Drupal AI at the GovCMS Mega Meetup 2025.

These recordings are a valuable resource for anyone in government (or beyond) looking to understand how AI can be integrated into Drupal to support better services, better content and better experiences.

The three key videos from my session are now available to watch. These recordings have been contributed back to the Drupal community by GovCMS, Australia’s whole-of-government content management and web hosting platform.

Introduction to Drupal AI

In this intro video I set the scene for the Drupal AI initiative, covering:

  • An overview of the Drupal AI initiative
  • An interview with Jamie Abrahams on how Drupal AI can help government excel
  • High-level results from the Drupal AI survey
  • A look at the Drupal AI roadmap

Drupal AI demo: search and suggestions

The second video jumps into demos, showing how AI can make search and content creation more powerful and efficient in Drupal. I take you through:

  • A demo site showcasing Drupal AI search in action
  • A look “under the hood” at AI assistants and how to configure search result displays
  • AI suggestions for content editors, including AI readability scoring and text summaries

Drupal AI demo: alt text, Canvas and CivicTheme

The final video focuses on showing how Drupal AI can help with accessibility and page building.

I cover:

  • AI-powered Alt text generation for images, both individually and in bulk
  • An introduction to Drupal Canvas
  • A drag-and-drop Canvas demo for building pages
  • A combined Drupal AI + Canvas + CivicTheme demo, showing how to quickly build a landing page using AI
  • Using AI context to help the system make smarter, more relevant decisions during page building
